Executive Director
Heather’s current position is at Deaf Action Center in Dallas as the Executive Director. She has been deaf since birth but was raised oral and discovered Deafhood much later in life. She is extremely grateful she is Deaf and wouldn’t change anything about herself and loves the community she lives in and serves.
Heather finds her position challenging and rewarding and views her d/Deaf/hard of hearing consumers as mentors. She seeks to change her thinking about her identity and how the d/Deaf are perceived. Heather spends hours researching how to improve the lives of the d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing for personal use and for the community.
One of her passions is mentoring other d/Deaf individuals to find their sense of self-worth and talents as a Deaf or hard of hearing individual. Her motto? Pass it on!
