Summer Fun

School is back in session, but we kept students busy this summer! Thanks to continued funding from donors and community supporters along with the Communities Foundation of Texas W. W. Caruth, Jr. Fund, we held our first ever Youth Self-Advocacy Camp in July. Deaf and hard of hearing students from around DFW came together for a week full of self-advocacy sessions led by our staff. After a successful week of learning and growing together, students and parents made their way back to DAC in August for our first annual Back to School Bash. Local vendors supporting deaf and hard of hearing youth such as PowerSense, Indian Creek Dental, and a local Girl Scout Troop came out to provide community members with free school supplies and resources to kick off another school year. Thank you to everyone who made these two events possible!

Our Youth Education and Transition Services (YETs) program is now undergoing a period of restructuring to better serve our clients. If you are looking for services to support your deaf or hard of hearing child or know of a student who needs support, please contact us at info.assist@dactexas.org and we’ll connect you with one of our resource specialists.
