For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a doctor and a mother. I have been a general pediatrician in North Dallas, Frisco, and now Little Elm since 2001. In 2015, I accepted an appointment from the American Academy of Pediatrics to serve as the Chapter Champion for the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program. As such, I help to ensure that all babies born in the state of Texas complete the newborn hearing screening process. When babies are identified as deaf or hard of hearing, we help to educate families and health care providers on the importance of early intervention.
I joined the DAC board because I would like to see the Deaf Action Center become a resource for families of children who are deaf/hard of hearing. I see the DAC as a place where families and the Deaf community can connect. And, as the mother of a daughter who is hard of hearing, I want to ensure that my daughter has access to DAC resources and support, so that every challenge should become an opportunity!
