What it Means to Volunteer
Volunteering at the DAC is about giving back to a community that has given me so much. I have met so many wonderful new friends, I have been welcomed into a community full of a beautiful culture, and I have been given the trust of those I serve. To volunteer, means to say thank you for welcoming me and trusting me. It is a high honor to have that trust and I strive to keep that trust every day.
Another important part of volunteering is getting out there and letting the Deaf community know that I want to be involved in different events, and that this isn't just a job to me. Volunteering at the front desk at the DAC allows me to meet members of the community and let them see and meet me. When I am at the front desk, I am given the opportunity to give back to the community that I have fallen in love with and that I and blessed to serve. It is the best way to give thanks!
